Charlyn has played the viola since 7th grade, and music has always been an
enjoyable avocation for her. Before coming to Oregon in 1977, she played in
the Monterey Bay and Santa Cruz Symphonies, and the Bear Valley and Aspen
Music Festivals. She was principal viola in Palatine Hill/Columbia Symphony
until 1987, when she started her career in nursing.Currently she coordinates special programs
and oversees community education activities for Cancer Services at Legacy Good Samaritan
Hospital.
Charlyn was a member of the Portland Opera Orchestra for 12 years and also
enjoys playing chamber music. She rejoined Columbia Symphony in 1997.
Her other enjoyable pursuits include yoga, travel (especially to Italy!) and cooking,
interests she shares with her husband, Jeffrey.
